Lesson Two – Data Entry

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and model how to add researched data and information records to a database about some of the celestial objects that can be found in the Solar System.
The class can identify and describe the importance of checking any collected data for errors and omissions so that they can be corrected.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and model how to add researched data and information records to a database about some of the celestial objects that can be found in the Solar System
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify errors and omissions in sets of data about example planets in space and a worksheet to prepare and check a spreadsheet database for errors and omissions in sets of data about some of the different celestial objects that can be found in space.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to add data and information records to a database about celestial objects in the Solar System.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to identify and record how to use databases to store, organise and interrogate data and information about different planets found in the Solar System. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
