Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe how different artists have depicted rivers in their artwork and a table display card to investigate and and describe some of the themes and ideas that have been expressed and illustrated in paintings of river scenes.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and describe how artists use a range of colours to suggest different times of the day in paintings.

This lesson is part of an art and design scheme of work to get the children to explore and emulate techniques used by significant artists working in paint to create impressions of reflections seen in different bodies of water. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
