Unit L – Shape Records

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and compare a range of different 3D shapes by their matching properties including their number of faces, edges and vertices. The can make models and lists to illustrate how 3D shapes can be the same or different.

Identify, describe and compare a range of different 3D shapes by their matching properties including their number of faces, edges and vertices

Lesson One : School Shapes
Practise recognising and naming some examples of different 3D shapes that can be found in a range of locations around the school building and grounds

Lesson Two : Shape Faces
Explore how to identify and record some of the the matching 2D shapes that can be found on the faces of a range of different 3D shapes

Lesson Three : Shape Edges
Explore how to identify, count and record the number of edges that can be found on a range of different 3D shapes

Lesson Four : Shape Vertices
Explain and illustrate how to record and describe a range of different 3D shapes by their matching number of vertices as part of each shape’s unique properties

Lesson Five : Household Shapes
Investigate how to identify and make lists of some special items used in family households to match the individual properties of different 3D shapes
-
Stories From the Bible
Investigate the sequence of events in stories from the Bible told by Jesus and reflect on lessons that the narratives can teach people about their lives
