Unit G – Two Digit Addition

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to model and record how to solve number problems involving addition of pairs of two digit numbers including exchange between place value. The class can explain how to use an expanded method of addition to add the tens and ones in pairs of numbers.

Model and record how to solve number problems involving addition of pairs of two digit numbers including exchange between place value

Lesson One : Sandwich Shopping

Select and add pairs of two digit numbers with no exchange between place value to calculate the cost of buying sandwich fillings

Lesson Two : Supermarket Shopping

Add pairs of two digit numbers with one exchange between place value to calculate the cost of buying pairs of different items from a supermarket

Lesson Three : Number Squares

Identify and record different pairs of two digit numbers that sum to one hundred using a number square to model each calculation

Lesson Four : Addition Number Puzzles

Describe how to solve a range of number puzzles by adding sets of three one digit numbers that can match different sums to one hundred

Lesson Five : Addition Number Reverses

Practise using inverse operations to identify and illustrate how to reverse different addition calculations by using matching subtraction sums

  • Shape Matching

    Shape Matching

Identify, describe and compare different 2D shapes by their matching individual properties including the number of sides, vertices and lines of symmetry

  • Buses, Trains, Planes

    Buses, Trains, Planes

Select patterned language to use when writing poems describing ways of travelling when making different journeys

  • Toy Masses

    Toy Masses

Explain and model how to measure, record and compare the mass of some different toys and games using scales, bucket balances and symbols for greater than and less than

  • Seaside Holidays

    Seaside Holidays

Describe and compare how families enjoyed seaside holidays together in the past with similar events and experiences enjoyed by families today
