This maths scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to practise using mental and informal written calculations to add pairs of one and two digit numbers using concrete objects and diagrams to support calculations. The class can explain how to count on from the biggest numbers when completing sums.

Practise using and working with concrete objects and pictorial diagrams to record addition facts about numbers to twenty using bar models

Lesson Two : Number Groups

Explore how to identify and record sets of numbers that make different sums to ten and twenty when working with cubes and pictures to model each of the calculations

Lesson Three : Number Pairs

Investigate how to identify and model some different matching addition calculations that can make a range of number sums within twenty

Lesson Four : Counting Money

Practise using counting on to add different pairs of two digit numbers and ones to identify and record sets of money coins to match each selected sum
