Activities in this teaching pack include a set of differentiated worksheets to practise subtracting pairs of two digit number to twenty for support ability levels, to fifty for core ability levels and to one hundred for extension levels and ones by using number facts when counting back to the nearest multiple of ten to calculate numbers of plants and animals found in a woodland location.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to solve number word problems about woodland plants and animals by subtracting two by one digit numbers.
This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to identify and model how to use facts about numbers to use when subtracting pairs of two and one digit numbers by counting back through the nearest model of ten. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
