Lesson Three – Sport Equipment

This English teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise using commas to punctuate sentences listing some of the special equipment that are needed by athletes competing in different sports and games.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe equipment needed to compete in different sports, a set of cards to select and make lists of equipment for sports and games and differentiated templates to record how to use commas and add vocabulary to punctuate lists of equipment needed to compete in different sports.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use commas to punctuate lists of equipment that athletes need to compete in different sports.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to select matching vocabulary words and sentence structures to use when composing diary entries describing how to participate in different sport competitions at the Olympic games. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
