Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of food and classify them as either fruits or vegetables and a template and vocabulary word bank to select and record information about the appearance, texture and taste of different foods.

This lesson is part of a design technology scheme of work to get the children to select and prepare a range of different foods to use when following a recipe to make a sandwich for a picnic. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
