Lesson Five – Crew Names

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explain and model how to change the size and type of fonts when typing the matching names of crew members who can work in different jobs onboard a ship or boat.
The class can select the best font name and style to use on a name label so that is clear and readable for other members of the crew and visitors to the vessel.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and model how to change the size and type of fonts when typing the matching names of crew members who can work in different jobs onboard a ship or boat
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify the best fonts that can be used to display the names of crew members on board a ship or boat and differentiated worksheets to type and print the names for some of the crew members working on board a ship or boat.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to change the size and type of fonts when typing the names of different crew members who can work in different jobs onboard a ship or boat.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to practise structuring and formatting different word processed documents to describe a range of ships and boats seen in a harbour. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
