Lesson Six – Garden Pots

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise using clay materials to sculpt and shape some coil shaped pots that can be used to display a range of different flowers growing in a garden location.

The class can identify and model some of the different tools and techniques that they can use when working with clay to make the pot shapes to hold a display of flowers.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the best shapes that can be used to make a pot to hold flowers and a worksheet to practise moulding different shapes using plasticine as preparation for working in clay to make a flower pot.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to use clay materials to sculpt coil shaped pots that can be used to display garden flowers.
