Lesson Five – What Jobs

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explore how to identify and compare some of the roles and responsibilities of adults who work in different jobs in the local community.
The class can select and make lists of some of the special tools and equipment that adults might need to use when working in a specific role or job.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of display posters to identify and match objects to different jobs that can be worked by adult, a set of cards to describe jobs to match different tools and equipment that adults can use when at work and a template to select and record some of the tools and equipment needed to perform different jobs.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and compare some of the roles and responsibilities of adults who work in different jobs in the local community,
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and record how people can grow and change in different ways during their lifetime as they progress from childhood to adulthood. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
