Lesson Three – Hairstyles

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate how to describe and design the range of different hairstyles that can be found on the human body using a selection of special materials.

The class can select and record the style and colour of some example types of hair to match a character from one of their favourite narrative stories.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to select vocabulary words that can be used to describe different hairstyles, a set of cards to identify and label a picture of a body showing the location of the different parts and a template to select the style and colour of hair to match a character from a favourite narrative story.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to describe and design some different hairstyles that can be found on the human body using a range of materials.

This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to investigate and practise some of the different artwork techniques that can be used when composing and painting a portrait of a classmate. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
