This numeracy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to practise using coloured marzipan to create a range of different symbols and shapes that can be used to decorate cup cakes to serve at a family party for Easter.
The class can select and describe some of the special shapes and patterns that can be used when wrapping chocolate Easter eggs.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the shapes used in different designs for Easter eggs and a template to select and create a design for an Easter egg pattern using a range of different 2D shapes.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use coloured marzipan to create different Easter symbols and shapes that can be used to decorate cup cakes.
This lesson is part of a numeracy scheme of work to get the children to identify and describe the properties of different 2D shapes when creating food snacks and decorations to celebrate Easter. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
