Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to investigate some of the different events that can be experienced when visiting a zoo, a set of cards to select and record vocabulary words to name things that can be completed during a visit to a zoo and a template to write vocabulary word phrases to use in a poem describing a visit to a zoo.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use vocabulary words to describe events and experiences that can be completed during a visit to a zoo as part of a poem.

This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to practise selecting different vocabulary words to use when completing and composing poems about family visits to different locations.
