Activities in this teaching pack include a template to select and write the initial letters of the alphabet that match different types of foods and a set of cards to identify the next letter in sequences from the alphabet by recording pictures of objects with the matching initial letters.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore the initial phoneme sounds for different words naming foods and match to the correct letters of the alphabet.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to investigate examples of patterned language used to sequence events in a story about a caterpillar and learn the names and sounds for each letter of the alphabet. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
