Activities in this teaching pack include a template to practise recording the initial letters of some of the different foods listed in the story of The Hungry Caterpillar and a set of cards to identify and match different foods with the correct letters of the alphabet for their initial sounds.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to match a selection of letters of the alphabet to different types of foods that might be eaten by caterpillar.

This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to investigate examples of patterned language used to sequence events in a story about a caterpillar and learn the names and sounds for each letter of the alphabet.
