Where I Live

This curriculum topic scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explore some of the different buildings, people and locations that can be found in the school neighbourhood and the local community. The class can make lists and models to show what makes each place special and unique.

Family Homes
Investigate, describe and compare some of the different types of homes found in the local area around the school environment

Streets and Roads
Identify, describe and compare different types of buildings and objects found on a street or road that is part of the school neighbourhood

Practise counting and recording matching sets of objects to ten, twenty and thirty to illustrate and record some of the special things that can be seen around a city

House Windows
Count, match and record different numbers of windows that could be seen on houses that have been built in a city location to match numbers to ten, twenty and thirty

Match and record different numbers of objects that could be seen in flats that have been built in a city location to match numbers to ten, twenty and thirty
