This curriculum topic scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate, compare and test some of materials that can be used to make different types of footwear that are used for a range of functions. The class can models of shoes that can be used to match a range of family activities.

Lesson Two : Sports Shoe
Select and describe different types of materials that can be used in shoes that are suitable for playing a range of sports and games

Lesson Three : Slippers
Select, describe and classify different types of materials that can be used to make a range of footwear to provide warmth and comfort for the wearers

Lesson Four : Snow and Ice
Select and record some of the different materials that can be used to make a range of footwear that will provide grip and stability in the winter weather

Lesson Five : Party Shoes
Select, describe and record the design for a special pair of shoes that could be worn for a family party celebration

Lesson Six : Night Walking
Identify, describe and classify a range of reflective materials that can be used on shoes when walking at night so that the wearer is visible to traffic
