Lesson Three – Slippers

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe the properties of different materials used to make a range of objects, a set of cards to select and sort sets of materials into matching groups by their individual properties and templates to record the design for a type of footwear using a range of different fabrics and name the function of materials that can be used to make household objects.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to select different materials for footwear that can provide warmth and comfort.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to investigate, compare and test some of materials that can be used to make different types of footwear that are used for a range of functions. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
