Lesson Two – Witch’s Kitchen

This English teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise using the conjunction and to co-ordinate pairs of matching sentence clauses about some of the special things that a witch might use when making a potion.
The class can select special vocabulary words to use in sentences about potions to suggest how they can be used to achieve different effects and outcomes.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify how to co-ordinate pairs of sentence clauses using the conjunction and, a worksheet for core and extension ability levels to select words phrases to use in sentences with the conjunction and to co-ordinate things a witch might use when making a potion and a template for support ability levels to complete sentences about how a witch can make a potion.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use the conjunction and to co-ordinate sentence clauses about things a witch might use when making a potion.
This lesson is part of an English scheme of work to get the children to select and write sets of instructions that a witch can follow when making a range of potions to use when casting different spells. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
